Recirculation Button Climate Control Intake Door
2003 Maxima W/ Auto Climate Control
when the climate control unit is OFF and you push the Recirculation Button the outside vents is supposed to close right? because my car was working like this for a long time.
now when i press the recirculation button the intake door does NOT close. the light is lit up on top of the button meaning its pressed but yet i still smell all the exhaust from outside coming in.
my next step was to remove the glove box and watch the intake door and i noticed something weird, when the climate control unit is OFF and i press recirculation the intake motor makes a lil noise like it got power and nothing happens. and when i turn the climate control on AUTO and press the recirculation button the intake door actually closes perfectly. so if i wanna close the vents i have to have either the heat or the A/C on wtf? it was never like that before.
so i decided maybe the climate control unit itself was bad so i ordered a replacement on eBay and it works exactly like same no change, the intake door motor still makes a buzz when recirculation is pressed and the door doesnt close. whats the next step?

Sounds like a bad actuator to me. Whatever motor is responsible for shutting the recirc door is kaput. I recommend you go to nissan4u.com in order to figure out the parts you need.
