What is recall R1302

Hey, I am new here.

I checked the Carfax of the 2001 Maxima I just bought. But i somehow missed that the report said that it has Manufacturer recall #R1302. I read about it and it dealt with airbag and stuff. Is it really a concern? Should i contact the dealer. Also Is it just about the airbag or anything else?

Thanks.

If you want to find out about recalls on a car, go to
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...callsearch.cfm
and select the year, make and model of the car.

For the 2001 Maxima, there are 5 recalls 2 for Nissan and 3 for after market headlight manufacturers.

Here are the Nissan problems:

Report Receipt Date: APR 12, 2013
NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V136000

Component(s): AIR BAGS
11 Associated Documents

Manufacturer: Nissan North America, Inc.

SUMMARY:
Nissan is recalling certain model year 2001-2003 Maxima, Pathfinder, and Infiniti I35; model year 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4; and model year 2003 Infiniti FX35 and FX45 and model year 2002 and 2003 Sentra vehicles to address a safety defect in the passenger side frontal air bag which may produce excessive internal pressure causing the inflator to rupture upon deployment of the air bag. This recall addresses both the passenger side frontal air bags that were originally installed in the vehicles, as well as replacement air bags that may have been installed as replacement service parts. A replacement air bag may have been installed, as one example, if a vehicle had been in a crash necessitating the replacement of the passenger side frontal air bag.

CONSEQUENCE:
In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking and potentially seriously injuring the passenger seat occupant or other occupants.

REMEDY:
Owners of all vehicles on which a defective air bag may have been installed either as original equipment, or as a replacement, will be notified. Dealers will inspect vehicles, and where a defective air bag inflator is identified, the inflator will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began during August 2013. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.

NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Report Receipt Date: MAY 30, 2002
NHTSA Campaign Number: 02V146000

Component(s): SUSPENSION
8 Associated Documents expand

Manufacturer: NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.

SUMMARY:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE PIN AT THE END OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION TRANSVERSE LINK (LOWER CONTROL ARM) COULD BREAK WHERE IT IS MOUNTED TO THE FRAME.

CONSEQUENCE:
THIS CAN CAUSE A KNOCKING SOUND AND ABNORMAL STEERING. THIS COULD RESULT IN DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AND INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

REMEDY:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TRANSVERSE LINKS ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES WITH NEW ONES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JULY 29, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261 OR INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

It's the airbag for the passenger's side. I got a notification in the mail a month ago, I haven't got a chance to take it to the dealer to replace the airbag yet, since my car is sitting in the driveway on jackstand for the past few months, working on replacing new struts, brakes, rotor, and all the bushing, just haven't had time to do it all at once so I can take it in for recall work perform on it.
