Where do I go from here?

So I currently have a 01 se that sits like this

http://s1036.photobucket.com/user/Pa...tml?sort=3&o=0

I have plans to sell my ksports and go with Tein SS coilovers. I hate the fact that it is an automatic, and I am planning on doing a 3.5 and six speed swap. Problem is, I stumbled upon this today

http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/4203237153.html

so, what do I do org? Do I continue with my current car, or demodd and sell it, and try to deal for the 02? Its way overpriced, so I dont know if the seller will deal or not

P.S. If one of you buys this car before I do, I will cut you

Might be hiding what's going on in the INTERIOR

True, I would never suggest buying a vehicle without seeing it in person. I am just saying it is clean on the outside in those pictures.

Now Govols, to answer your question: Do you want to deal with the headaches from doing an engine and tranny swap? Do you want to deal with taking your mods off and selling them one by one? Do you have money to make this purchase? Are you mechanically inclined to do the necessary swaps? If not, are you willing to make mistakes and take the time to learn? Now I'm not bashing you, but I don't know anything about you. These are the types of questions I would ask myself.

My dad once told me that if you are irrationally excited about something, sleep on it,* if AND ONLY IF you are still as enthusiastic without the level of excitement falling one drop, then you may continue with whatever it is you wanted to do.

If you wholeheartedly want to take on this endeavor, then who on the internet is to tell you no?

*Amount of time to sleep on it depends on the extremity of the excitement/idea

Just because you broke yours doesn't mean everyone is going to have problems, George...

Thanks for your input. Thing is, whatever mods I do take off my car I will simply put right back on the 02.
The reason I'm so torn is that I have done a full 5.5 front end swap on mine, had a new paint job done about 3 years ago, and I've had the thing for 8 years. However, she has 237,000 miles on her now.
I do think I can pull off the engine and tranny swap, as I am fairly mechanically inclined. I would do the full ecu swap, and yes, I have been researching forever and made a parts list.

I'm gonna sleep on this for a couple of days for sure

You have a nice clean 5th gen...

That 02 Max in the ad looks real good but way overpriced, should be around $5-6k at most if indeed it's in such great condition as seen in the pics, and if it's all good mechanically and has service records. Also, the seller says he's the 3rd owner and bought it recently, makes me wonder why (unless he's trying to do a resale and make $$$, would explain the way inflated price).

I'd perhaps go look at that 02 and see what's up with it, think about it...But whatever you decide should be good, your car is nice already and if you do an engine swap to a low-mileage vq35 and 6mt that will be sick, plus the learning experience. I'd almost lean towards the engine/trans swap in the 01 if it was me.

I totally agree. My target price would be 4500. Book is about 3700, but if it's really in the condition that he describes tnen that might be worth 800.

Bottom line is, if I can get it for 4500, and possibly be able to get 2000 out if mine, then I think it would be totally worth it. Thats 2500, and I would probably end up spending at least half of that on the engine and tranny swap. It worries me that he apparently just bought it from an older man, so I'm thinking he probably bought it for around 4000 and is trying to make a lot of money off of it.

Well, I talked more with the guy, and I was going to go look at it tomorrow. But, we talked price a little, and he will not come off his price and claims that he has two offers over $8k that he declined

I was willing to do my car and 3k as long as everything checked out with the car, but he said we aren't in the same ballpark. So, I guess 3.5 & 6 speed swap it is for me.

On another note, I am picking up my VIS carbon fiber hood on sunday so woot for that

No offense but for a Black car it is so easy to Look Clean. Until you are in person in front of the car do you really see whats up...

And to the OP I would pass on 9k for that Maxima, but your Cash your choice...

3.5 swap plus 6speed plus ecu plus all the other **** you'll need to do a auto to manual swap, you'll essentially need a donor car and lets not forget your car has 237k miles on it.
