Power Window Problem

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I just got my 03 GLE with 95K miles on it. I have to take my car through a safety Inspection before I can register it, since it has a Salvage Title. The only problem I have with the car is I cant roll down either rear window from the Driver side control or the rear seat control. I've already checked the fuses and I didn't see anything wrong there. I wanted to know if anyone can give me an idea of what to do before I just take it to Nissan. Thanks

Since the front windows work, you don't have a problem with the fuses. The windows do not have separate fuses.

You either have a bad master switch in the driver's door or you have a wiring problem. The rear windows get power and ground from the master switch.

To do some checking, you will need a voltmeter.

Remove a rear door window switch. Pry up on the front end of the switch plate. Leave the wires plugged onto the switch.

Connect the neg lead of the voltmeter to chassis ground. On the switch wires, find the white wire with a blue stripe. See if it has 12 volts on it when the ignition switch is turned on.

Switch the voltmeter to measure resistance (ohms). Leave the neg meter lead connected to chassis ground. Locate the solid red wire and see if you have zero ohms (continuity) to ground. Do this with the solid yellow wire.

Report back with findings.

check that all of the wiring harnesses are connected to the master (driver's door) switch. You will have to remove the door trim panel on the drivers door. I had the same problem when I installed speakers and it ended up that I forgot to reconnect one of the harnesses.

You don't have to remove the door trim panel. The plastic trim for the window switch pops out of the door panel. Just pry up on the rear end of it.

Thanks for all your input. Ill see if I can try these today when I go to my friends shop. I did find out my passenger window wasn't working well. It would go up and then come back down a couple inches. But I looked through the forums and was able to fix the problem.
