Maxima Rebate

Through January (it appears) there is a $1000 customer rebate offered on 2k2 Maximas nationwide.
Why is this not being widely advertized, or listed on sites like nissandriven.com, edmunds.com, etc.?
And is there any confirmation the rebate will be extended past January 31?

I don't know about the rebate extending past Jan. 31, but it is definately available until then. Edmunds' financing rates may not be correct, either. I got 3.9% for 60 months last week on my 2K2 6spd, and this isn't on nissandriven.com.

I just thought it was strange for a car company to be offering rebates (or favorable interest rates) without announcing them as widely as possible. Maybe they're hoping that customers won't ask if they haven't heard about them! Anyway, with a February delivery date pending, I'm hoping this (inconspicuous) rebate continues past January 31...

I've received this rebate on every Max I've gotten and it seems to be an in store unadvertised bonus. On the purchase of my 97 SE the dealer actually called me and threw in an additional $500.00 off the total purchase price from another rebate from Nissan but I was always told the offer ended Dec. 31st of each year. I cannot say why they don't advertise this but it does seem it would help sales.

the rebate is for in-stock maximas only, right? i have a 6 speed on order right now and i was thinking....i have already put down a $500 deposit on the car, but if i back out of the deal (temporarily)and lose my $500 deposit. THEN negotiate a new deal for the same price could i still get the $1000 off since the car is technically in stock? i'd still save $500.

its not the most honest thing to do but technically dont you think it could work? the dealer wont care since its a nissan rebate. the dealers still get their money im assuming.

I would'nt count on it unless you totally get out of the deal and go to another dealer.

Just purchased last week. Was offered $1,000 rebate or 3.9% for 36 months. If they had offered the 3.9% for 60 I would have gone that route.

Right, in a literal sense...but the one you ordered out will be "in stock" at some point, too, i.e., when it arrives at the dealership (which is also when you pay for it), and thus will be eligible for any rebate that is in force at that time. The key question is whether the current $1000 rebate will be in force after it "expires" this month...no promises from anybody, but several people seem to think so.

i read about the somewhere a few weeks ago(nissannews.com i think)it said "the rebate will not be applicable to specially ordered cars" or something close to that.

Right...as he clarified further down in the same thread, he picked this up off www.carsdirect.com . The statement looks official, certainly, but I don't think it excludes eligibility on customer-ordered cars if the rebate is in effect at the time the car is delivered (and therefore "in stock").

My dealer says I get the rebate if my ordered car is delivered by 1/31/02.

Me too. Such coyness at Nissan is what got me to start this rebate thread in the first place, and to remark in an earlier message:

"I just thought it was strange for a car company to be offering rebates (or favorable interest rates) without announcing them as widely as possible. Maybe they're hoping that customers won't ask if they haven't heard about them!"

While someone at 800 Nissan should be the ultimate authority, your contact was informationally challanged.

Though the $500 rebate and .9%apr was announced on nissandriven.com.

I am not sure where the $1000 rebate come from. My dealer doesn't metion it when I bought mine last December.
