My buddy has a brand new and i need it but he says its for a a/t 4th gen but is the same as 5th gen M/T is this true? Dont sound right to me.

 

The starter is the same for auto and manual trans.

The Nissan part number for the starter is 23300-2Y900R (R= rebuilt). It fits cars built from Feb 1994 through June 2001.

I've swapped starters between my 97 and 2000. Just make sure that the 4th gen starter gear has 11 teeth on it.

 

It worked...lol i drove my 5th gen over 9months with a screwed up starter not knowing they were the same.
