I've been told that the oil filter for the 2002 is different. I've had 3 oils changes since I got my car (6300km) but I have had 2 different part numbers for my filters.

15208-65F00 was the first one and I believe is the correct one for 02s

15208-9E000 was used the last 2 times and I beleive is for 00-01s

I am sure it's the same part number in Canada and the US, does any know what their filter part number is/was? and let me know what year your car is.

I am sure it's not a big deal but I am picky and would like the proper filter on my car.

 

i know what you mean......one is taller than the other....they both supposedly work..but who knows...nissan gave me the taller one the first time around..and last month they gave me the shorter one..which had the SrDe20 engines listed..not the Vq motor...but they say its what nissan reccomends...i personally like the idea of the tall oil filter..more flow perhaps?

 

I've heard that the factory filter is different than the replacement filter, maybe that's the reason it comes with the taller one and then gets replaced with the smaller one.

 

The local dealership gave me the sentra/200sx oil filter. When I took off the oil filter from my max, it was exactly the same. I asked the again why its smaller than my 98 maxima, and he told me it was a space saver. I guess the taller one is ok too.

 

Sometime in the latter part of the 2001 manufacturing cycle, Nissan changed to the shorter filter. My 2K1 was manufactured on 5/01 and it came from the factory with the shorter filter. It does not matter to me because I'm using the Mobil 1 filter.
