Flash or not?

Went to Dealership to figure out my 3500 rpm sputter ... After service call of $98, they said MAF was not working properly ...$112, New MAF. The instructions in the box said to reprogram for NEW MAF ...? The Service Adviser asked the Tech and He said it was not necessary ... So, my question is ... Do I need to go back to the Dealer and get the Program reset (?) or Normalized ...?
