I aint trying to make it worse, but didnt you have locknuts? not the ones nissan gave you, but a different aftermarket kind? cause the nissan locknuts are worthless due to the fact they got a "master" key for them.

Dang! And in H-town at that! Sorry to hear about it Matt, at least they didn't get to your Kenwoods. That would have been more of a loss.

F#$%ing $hit, damn, crap--sorry, most intellegent thing i can think of right now

i AM kinda worried about my kenwood DVD player and stereo system in general, i hope they didn't take note of it for future reference everything looks to be okay but seeing my max on 2 cinder blocks is not healthy for me or the max--obviously if someone knocks it off the blocks i have serious problems--could they do any damage just sitting there? it's definitly time for an alarm and new wheellocks (any recommendations) and anything else to prevent this from happening again--insurace covers it with a $250 deductable, the only GOOD thing to come of this is that i have the opportunity to get the Michelins for $20 each--it's kinda funny, i just had a post about how i couldn't wait till the Potenzas wore out so i had reason to get new tires, now's as good a time as any

Anyway, here's some tips you might want to consider:
1) Go back to Cartoys and have them chain your DVD system down to the firewall or somewhere back there that's a bit hard to get by without spending a certian amount of time. Most Japanese DIN mounts are just "slide-away". Not much in terms of security really.

2) I'm not sure from the photo but some tint will help a bit

3) Clifford alarms are perhaps one of the best for your money. Install every possible option and back up the major components with similar units interspersed throughout the car in case the main unit is tampered with.

4) Hood locks.

Btw, please post your experience with the Michelins when you get them. It's true what everyone says about the Potenza's

Re: Re: F#$%ing $hit, damn, crap--sorry, most intellegent thing i can think of right now

1) i think Car Toys is sick of me spending so much money there, i also heard from the guy who installed my stuff (he quit)that Car Toys is under investigation
2) i have tint but i think i may have to go with limo tint all around and just take my chances with the law

3)Clifford: thanks after i go get my rent car in a few minutes, i'm gonna go do so some looking
4) Hood locks? where could i get these--i would think that someone who steals wheels would have all the tools to get off ANY type of locknuts

"Btw, please post your experience with the Michelins when you get them. It's true what everyone says about the Potenza's " --will do maybe you can take 'em for a spin sometime, i wish i had a garage (we turned it into 2 bedrooms when my grandmother moved in with us )thanks for the help, i'm going to get my rent car mow, lates

That is great! Factory Nissan wheels cost a fortune. With the insurance, you will probably have enough to get 17-18" rims and tires.

Now get a good alarm to protect the rest of your stuff and buy some good locks

Always look on the brighter side of life... *whistle*

DanNY - You're right, Nissan uses McGard locks. I've never heard of any sort of master key, and McGard is one of the best regarded brands of wheel locks.

It's an ugly feeling, I had that happen to back in 95 with my Mustang. I came out my door and looked my think that something looks funny, then as I got a little closer I noticed the wheels were gone and the car was sitting on Cinder blocks. Ahh and I was headed to court as well, luckily my land lady lent me her car.

The worst part was I had McGuards but I left the McGuard key in the car as well as my toolkit. I gave the theives everything they needed except the lift, oh well my dumb *** for doing so....

See if you can get some SSR GT3s from your insurance...then take pics!

Not to get u down but there was a post here a few days ago where someone had gorrilla locks (very good I hear, replaces all locknuts) and a clifford alarm(that should trip if the hood is opened). They took his wheels and FSTB and were part way into unbolting the turbo.

on the brighter side you could get a xcam2
www.x10.com works with pc and vcr to keep an eye on the max

gorrilla locknuts are supposed to be most of a deterrent (the set that replaces all locknuts not just one)

maybe all max owners should be entitled to own a high powered sniper rifle and a license to shoot thievin bastards who go near our rides!

All dealers ALWAYS have a master key for all the locks. Ask Hogan he will agree with me. This is if you still have the factory locks they put on the car. Same goes with Lexus cars also. That is why I dont trust it, get your own locks that are not the same as nissan. Get the new ones that are even more harder to get out.

there's a special tool for breaking loose the wheel locks. problem with this tool is that once u use it once, it breaks..so u need a new one. nothing can be 100% theft proof...but u just have to look out for ur car and have some luck on ur side...

if you lose the key they have tools to take off the locks w/o damaging the rims. but i don't think there's a "master" lock for all of them.
please send me a pic/link/post...something. i want to know if it's out there...i'm getting a damn chain and chaining my car/wheels to a tree!

that suck bro. i know how you feel. straight violated. i got hit for my music and my brother got hit for his wheels. we have not had a problem lately.
thanks to 2 locks on each wheel and SiG arms adn Walther.

master key i have not heard about but lock breakers i have. most tire retailer/installers and car dealers have them. they are designed for all the morons that buy wheel locks and then lose the key and threw out the key code and never ordered a duplicate. at my job i will get at least 2-3 peeps a week that lost their wheel lock key. to be honest mcgards suck cause they are fairly easy to get off.

1: if the installer followed directions, then he didnt use an air tool on the lock key combo hence they are not as tight as the regular lugnuts.

2: lock breaking is fairly simple. socket hammer breaker bar/airgun and the locks are off.

3: most factory wheel (some aftermarket) have lugnut recesses that are very wide dimeter. so it is pretty easy to hammer on a socket.

as far as gorilla lugnuts are concearned the socket style lugnut/lock kit is good way to go but it is still defeatable. (how i dont know yet) they just will buy you some more time to catch them in the act.

try using a combination of 2 different locks per wheel.

in regards to the gator grip being able to remove socket style lock/lugs. the best counter to this is a wheel that has lugnut bores that are only 1mm bigger thn the socket lug/lock itself.

Is that TWO different locks or just two of the same, if it were me, I would put all 5 on each one locknuts (all the same key).

I see, what about the locks that are the "reverse" style, where the outside is round, and the key is recessed in there like at least 1/2". Not like standard locks where the key is just lasered on top.
