What is the tear drop shaped thing on the timing cover up top? Mine is leaking oil it appears and I do not know the name of this to either get a gasket or new one. Guessing its just a access to the cam shaft for setting the timing or something? Or is this a part that advances and retards timing cause I am getting the P0011 code.

Notwithstanding, it sounds like you're describing the cam position sensor.

 

cam sensor is on the back side, this is on the front or passenger side if you will. its bigger, has like 6-8 bolts, 2 guide pins. ill see if I can snag a pic online.

 

Noticed a bolt missing, I guess anyone know if the oil is leaking out of that by chance, didn't feel like it went all the way through. I'll buy a bolt tomorrow, but still wonder what this is

your good turbobink, I did not have the picture up at that time as I was working and couldnt get to it but I do thank you for your time and input. But after 100 views I figured someone would know and the fixer thank you very much!

Looks like I can take it off, inspect, throw some right stuff on and bolt it back on with all bolts! Just what I wanted to know.
