crank no start no power to fuel pump
crank no start no power to fuel pump
ok people maybe some one can help me out my 2000 maxima is not getting any fuel to the engine so i changed the fuel pump still no start so i check the plug to see if it was getting power and it is not even getting power to the fuel pump i thought it was the immobilizer but i had another key made and reprogrammed to the key so thats not the issue does anyone know what could be the issue .... or if there is a way to to putpower directly to the plug to check to make sure the fuel goes to the engine if the pump gets power
There is a fuse and a relay for the fuel pump. But if the engine is not running, the ECU will shut off the fuel pump.
When you first turn the ignition key on to start the car, the fuel pump will run. If the ECU does not get a signal from the REF crankshaft sensor within a few seconds, it shuts the pump off.
If you are having a problem with the NATS theft system, the red led in with to clock will be on solid. And if this is happening, the ECU does not fire the fuel injectors in order to prevent the engine from starting.
Check the fuse for the fuel pump. Fuse 29 (15 amp), bottom row, 3rd from right end. Also check fuse 17 (10 amp), middle row, 4th from right end. This fuse provides power to the fuel injectors and the fuel pump relay.
First see if power is sent to the fuel pump when the ignition key is switched on. Like I said, it will only be for a second or two, so be looking when you turn the key. You want to check the black with yellow stripe wire at the gas tank/fuel pump connector.
You can jumper 12 volts to the fuel pump if you want to try it. I doubt if it will help.

You need to check what the codes are... When you say you got another key and programmed, did the problem happen right after...??? Do you have your original key? Is you security light solid when cranking?
no man my problem started before i got the key ....the problem started after i got my clutch trans and flywheel.. it started before that no problem but they did take out my battery over night to let it charge ... could that be my problem
Do you have an after-market security system or a remote starter on the car?
If you have a later production 2000, you will have a fuel pump control module in the trunk, by the gas filler on the driver's side.
The control module regulates how fast the fuel pump spins, thereby controlling fuel pump pressure.
But the control module does this by controlling the ground wire of the fuel pump. Both the fuel pump and the control module get their 12 volts from the fuel pump relay.
Maybe the wire harness connector came out (4 wires).
See page EC-580 for the electrical diagram.

My friend replaced the clutch on his 95 Maxima and afterwards the car would crank but not start. He soon figured out that he had forgotten to reconnect the Crank Position Sensor on the transmission housing. Dooooooeeeehhhhh!
Try the local parts store perhaps they can rent you the obd2 scanner, definitely need to check the codes for clues!
Silly question? Was the key turned to the on position?
oh boy!
oh boy!
