Strange Engine noise- what is it? Video Included

OK Experts- I've never heard a noise like this- sounds like a CD player is loading in the engine and something gargling underwater...It makes the noise once the engine is turned off. Very distinct sound in the video below coming from the side of the engine facing the firewall. Somewhere between or under the intake manifold. This is on a 2000 Nissan Maxima with over 100,000 well maintained miles...Please help- What is it?

Aaron

the first sound I think my car does that too, then followed by the throttle body blip sound. Your second sound though I have no clue, is the car driving strange or anything ?

I can't remember off the top of my head, but does your 2000 have variable intake runners? Are they electronic or vacuum operated?

I had wondered this one too for some reason. Before I disconnected mine, I remember a "zoop" noise when they would activate if I were driving slowly (backing into the garage or something)

As the engine idles, slowly rev it to.. what is the trigger point, 1200 RPM maybe? and see if you hear the noise.

Doubtful but worth ruling out I suppose.

Mine's always made this noise immediately after shutting-off the engine. I always thought it was the engine mounts. Then again, I'm not sure if my SE even has electric engine mounts.

Electric motor mounts disconnect both of them or you'll end up frying your ECU and messing up IACV...My I30 did the same thing...

This is very interesting guys...this is my parent's car I never knew the 2000 GXE had electronic engine mounts. I've done more research on it and it looks like it could be the engine mounts. The best thing to do is disconnect it and then troubleshoot from there. Do you think the engine mount is responsible for both the cd changer noise and the water gargling noise?

My quick research also found that the automatic Maximas used electronic and manual regular mounts. If my parents were to replace this hopefully I can do it for them so they don't get charged high at the dealer. Is using an Energy bushing in a manual trans engine mount a good idea?

How many engine mounts are there and how many are electronic on 2000 Nissan Maxima GXE?

4 mounts...the two that are under the car should be the electronic ones..you have one(transmission) under the airbox and the one that is visible by the timing cover or horn on the passenger side. Go on YouTube type in maxima electric motor mounts. It's a short video and shows you exactly where and how to disconnect them.

Thanks for posting everyone, disconnected the engine mounts and there is no noise. Will keep them disconnected and if my dad feels like helping me swap out the mounts with some manual transmission ones we will do it
