Did something to my Accord that I should have done to my Maximas

Black out the chrome around the windows. Used a vinyl tape for trim, worked pretty good, might have to redo the curved part on the rear driver's side window, got a couple small wrinkles. Wasn't very warm (65 or so), probably would have been easier if it had been a bit warmer to get the tape to follow the curve better. Took about 45 minutes. Used a roll and a half of trim tape I bought at Pep Boys.

I had a grey lustre and sterling mist metallic, btw. Would have looked great on them.

Whats the procedure for doing the curves? I bought two rolls of the stuff a long while back but never got around to using them. Do you need a heat gun to smooth it out or is it rather pliable?

you can buy the trim tape I think its called .....thats about an inch wide but not very "bendable" , or you can buy electrical tape thats very flexible but thin. I did this in 2010 and didnt keep it for long because heat , wind, cold, carwashes, dirt etc wont get along with tape. You can probably plastidip it now though

Looks good, well done. I've thought about doing this on my Sterling Mist for a while now but never get to it. I always thought black would look better from factory, and I see most cars have black trim and the chrome is more a "luxury style" look. I hate seeing that chrome on black cars especially.

My car needs this mod with all the other black around it would look good, from the black tails, side markers, headlights, grill, this would finish the look.

I'm not sure about tape tho, how would it hold up over time (esp. in winter time here where it's 20-30F degrees now)?? I'd love to just get this tape and get it done right now, I'm trying to figure out if I should just wait till it gets warmer and do plasti-dip on it instead of tape for better durability?

When in doubt just plasti dip it, you'll feel better knowing that when you peel it off nothing's coming off with it.

Only problem with plasti-dip is durability. I have a friend who owns a body shop, might just have the trim anodized black as a permanent solution.

The tape does bend, just go slower around the curved areas.

Chrome to me looks like cheap luxury, like Cadillacs from the 70s and 80s. Recently detailed a BMW 640 and all the trim around the windows was blacked out.

Did this about 4 years ago when I got my windows tinted - Gave the guy an extra $25 bucks to do the work for me. Used TrimBrite Blackout Tape (T9005) and worked great!! Still holding strong after 4 years. There is some very minor peeling at the corners from high pressure wash guns. Little tip - it does shrink over time slightly so when you cut the edges off (exacto knife is what he used) ... leave yourself some excess to account for the shrinkage, but be careful not to cut into the rubber moldings. I'm certain there's an older thread to this - that's where I got the info.

Here's the link for amazon - $3.99/roll - You will need 2 rolls to do the job.
