2001 Window Motor Removal Problem

I'm trying to replace the Window motor on my 2001 Maxima but have a problem getting the window out of the way. When the motor gave out, it was half way up so I can't get to the bolts to remove the glass from the regulator.

I have a replacement motor, but not a replacement regulator so I can't just go hacking at the cables to break it loose.

I've loosened the regulator since it appears that it needs to come out with the motor, but I can't maneuver it enough to get to the bolts to get the glass out.

Any ideas on how to get the right hand (forward) bolt off the regulator so I can get the glass out?

So, the window won't lower? Typically when these break, they won't go up. You should be able to reconnect the switch and lower it. Otherwise use a 10mm wrench, might make it up in there and get them loose. Could probably back them out by hand after that.

Just make sure the glass is all the way up before removing the regulator or you will scratch the glass.

Not much u can do, either cut the metal wire on the regulator so the window slides up and down freely or use a 10mm wrench to try to get the bolt out and use ur hand afterwards.

Hmmm DJ, gave me an idea...guess OP could just get a large drill bit and drill at the points where the bolts are. Make the holes big enough to get a socket through. Wouldn't be very invasive.

What I actually ended up doing was doing some measurements and figured about where the elusive bolt was and drilled progressively larger holes until I could get a 10mm nut driver through the hole and onto the bolt. I was a little off but after unscrewing the regulator, I was able to maneuver it around until it got into place.

A little filing of the rough edges and it's all back together again and waiting for glue to dry on one of trim post connectors. The one that looks like a little bridge popped off the trim and stayed with the door.

Thanks for all the advice. Brute force wins again!
