Stock navigation in the 2003 swapped.
My buddy and I both have TE/ME 6 speeds with stock navigation, ironcally both super low miles too lol. I intend on keeping my stock navi but he wants to put a double din in his, problem is the stock navigation uses the hvac so if that is removed then the heating and ac is gone. I remember reading somewhere that you can swap the stock navi with an automatic climate control unit because the harness is the same with a maxima that has stock navi since that also uses auto climate control. Is this true? I've used the search and can't find anything. We are trying to do this with as little cutting and splicing as possible as he does not want to mess with the stock harness. So someone shed some light and let me know.

It seems to me that you would have to in effect convert the car to be a non-Nissan navigation car. That means get a climate control panel that will mount down where you currently have your radio and then get an aftermarket double din radio with whatever features you/he wants that will mount above the climate control panel.
I hope the wire harnesses are plug and play as you have stated. I don't know.

Read posts by user "Godfather" in the following thread starting with post# 16. According to that it's definitely not going to be plug & play to switch to a non navigation Auto climate control unit.
