Headlight alignment

I found the adjusting screws/ratchets but, looking at the screws from the perspective of a seated driver , which direction on the screw (CW or CCW) raises the beam? I've read that CW raises and CCW lowers but wasn't completely clear from which direction the screw was viewed. I'm assuming it's as you're looking at the screw head from the perspective of the engine/driver.

You should set the car up and align it with the headlights on. I don't recal the direction for up/down, but you'll figure it out with one turn.

Follow shiftice's directions. But, IMHO, if you are lowered, his directions have one significant flaw. IIRC, you subtract 4" from the height line about 25' from the car. It just doesn't make sense to me that if you lower the car, you would subsequently also lower your beams further. So, IMO if you're lowered 1.5" then your headlight should be adjusted 2.5" below the line.

Problem is I can't get the adjusters to do anything, so they might be stripped. Wanted to at least be turning them in the correct direction in the event they do catch, but can't seem to find that anywhere.

it would be easier to remove the headlights and see why the adjustment screw is not turning... most likely its all rusted... removing the headlights on the 5th gen is fairly simple

Took a closer look and the plastic adjuster nuts are stripped, loose on the knurled adjuster screws. pulled off the plastic nuts and the adjuster screws are frozen. At this point think I'll leave them be. Headlights have been adjusted like this for over 10 years so why risk the chance of breaking something inside the headlight by trying to force the adjusters.

As for removal, that may be easy, but I think the headlight assemblies themselves do not come apart easily. I recall posts of folks unbonding the assemblies to add angel eyes and such, and then having to glue them back together.

THanks for the ideas anyway!
