2000 maxima engine removal

hi guys im new here to this forum, just have a quick question. I picked up a 2000 maxima last weekend and need to replace the engine. they both have 202000 on them original engine and trans. I picked up a engine with 75000 and trans for it. how do I go about removing the engine? ive read that you can either pull it from the top or bottom. I don't really have the means of pulling the motor from the bottom, I have no lift. so I guess my question is how easy is it to pull the engine from the top with just a winch? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

you can get tips here but if you are needing a complete how-to on engine removal you want to get someone that knows what they are doing to help you.

A very rough how to. I would hope youre already mechanically inclined.

You have 45 minutes to do the following:
Remove all of zi fluids except zi steering and zi freon... If you're a total noob then remove zi freon.
Remove upper intake.
Remove the y-pipe.
Remove the radiator.
Remove zi hoses of cooling
Remove the hood
Remove zi harness from zi motah
Support the motor via hoist on the lower intake
Remove the crossmember and 2 motor mounts
Remove zi axles.
Remove the side motor mounts.

Yank motor out timing side up. While doing this remove zi pump of steering and leave in car. Also zi compressor of di ac can stay or go. Your call.

If this takes longer then two days. Call for help.

If you beat my time of 42 mins from driving up to drivrway to motor in zi air then ill buy you a cookie.

Buy the taller jack stands and the motor will fit under the front of the car once you drop it. That's how I removed the 3.5 and trans from a members donor parts car in his garage. I dropped the engine on one floor jack while I had the trans on another and lowered both at the same time. Well tried too lol at first it was sketchy to be synched up my friend and I but we stopped slowed down and slowly lowered both. One jack was crappy so it took a little patience to lower it slowly but it's so easy. I just put a hand on the motor to keep it from tipping over while we lowered it. I just pulled the motor mount bolts out and let her rip. lol If you take your time it's simple and easy. Make sure everything is disconnected so the motor isn't hanging up on wires or hoses. I have an engine hoist and stand now but haven't used them yet.

Thanks for the replies. Ive pulled many engines and rebuilt transmissions also. So i know what im doing. Just getting some advice on the nissan since ive never worked with one before. Since the manual says to pull the engone from the bottom. I have no means or lift to lift the vehicle off the engine and trans. Was hoping to be able to do it from the top. Not sure if that cross member will be a issue or not. Im picking up a 2 ton hoist today. I really dont wanna pay a grand to have a shop swap them out for me

Use two BIG jack stands. One on each side of the front car under the "frame rails" and you can slide the engine out from under the car. I did this on a 2002.

Yes, two small ones in the back so your exhaust doesn't smack the ground. Yea, truck/suv jack stands 3ton ones. The ones that are double the size of regular stands. You just need height. I have just two of those and like 4 sets of the small ones. I need to get more bigens. I also bought some dollies to use for the engine but I just rolled in on the jack. Harbor freight... cheap, effective in a pinch.

I had the stands but I saw them at a HF on U.S. 22 in nj. Exhaust was removed while engine was in the car. You should remove the ac compressor from the motor so you don't have to vac/refill the ac system. You can use an old tire as an engine stand.
