maxima will not rev above 2500 new maf,and cam sensors no catlyst

Hello everyone im new to the site and I have a 2002 Maxima se 6 speed. recently I have ran into a problem that I cant figure out. My maxima is hard to start timing sounds off when trying to start and the car will not rev over 2500 rpm and has no power at all. I have replaced the 2 cam position sensors and the mass air flow sensor and the catalyst converters have been hollowed out. I cant figure out what is going on with my car. worst of all I am getting no codes popping at all. I really could use some help. the only thing I haven't replaced is the crank position sensors. If anyone has any ideas or have experienced this issue before please help. Thank you

That is the ECU engaging "Limp Mode". It can do that for a number of reasons, one of which could be the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I would test it and see if it needs replacing.

When you don't have a code its hard to say. Personally I've had problems with no code and it was my clutch....the car had no pick-up. Usually sensors will throw codes. Stick around maybe some one else can help.

Next time instead of throwing parts at it , get ur oil changed at a shop and talk to the mechanic while ur there. I usually do that and get my problem diagnosed free... make believe ur interested in them fixing ur problem even if ur not and they'll test drive it and throw a scanner on.. Even paying for diagnostic is cheaper then guessing.

I have an 03 6MT. While the car was running, I disconnected the MAF and the car shut off obviously. But when I connected it back and started the car it also wouldnt go past 2500rpm. It was like that till the next morning.

Maybe check your MAF again

02 6mt se

thank you for the advise dfj240. I have had my mind wrapped around this for the past 2 days. according to the Nissan service manual there are 2 crank shaft position sensors I was able to find one that reads the flywheel but I have had no luck on finding the other one any tips? villegas2253s I tried a new maf today and it made no change at all. maximasicilian123 I tried to go that route with the Nissan dealer there worthless sorry to say they wouldn't work or even look at the car cause the catalyst converters have been hollowed out. Will No cats cause this issue of do ya guys think?
Thank you all for the reply's any and all imput helps greatly. Ill try the crank sensors tomorrow hope this resolves the issue.

Replace the crank sensor thAts on the transmission. That sensor control starting, piston firing, misfiring and fuel ratio and a lot more than people think.

No. Having hollowed cats will not cause this issue. The only thing that should or could happen is you would get a code for o2 sensors, unless you used anti-foulers or sims.

The crank sensor on the engine is the only one I'm familiar with. I'm unaware of a second, but the post above mine says it's on the transmission side, so that's a good place to start researching. I haven't seen one on my own 6-Speed but I haven't specifically looked either.

The other potential culprit very well could be the ECU itself. If no codes are being thrown, it's hard to start, and in constant limp mode then it's a possibility that you'll have to consider. Hopefully that isn't the case, but with no codes to point you along it's like trying to find a needle in a needle stack. Keep us updated on the things you check and test and we should be able to get it figured out. And definitely let us know if any codes come up.
