wheel making noise when driving maxima 02

when driving my car which is a 02 maxima SE a noise sounding like two metals rubbing against each other so I'm not sure what it is, if its the bearing or the brakes, the noise becomes more intense the faster i go

check your rotors/pads. is it front or rear? driver or pass side?
does it go away when you brake?

Its possible the caliper is sticking and its constantly pressing the pads up against the rotor. Put the car up on a jack stand, put it in neutral and see how easy/hard it is to spin the tire. Also, check the rotor for signs of wear and the caliper boot as well. I had a similar issue with my rear passenger side maxima.

yea, i've had rotors seize up before too-like mazda said, jack it up and pull. the wheel to see whats going on. pull the caliper and check that the piston is moving when the pedal is pressed.
Also, sometimes there are thin metal shims holding the pads in place-these sometimes warp and bend and make contact with moving parts.

I've also experienced the dust shield on the back of the rotor bending in and making contact in turns. easy to just bend away from rotor.
