Getting a Rebuild

Ok it came down to getting my 3.5 Rebuilt I had a massive smoke issue after fixing the vale cover oil leak that ruined the coils and I replaced those too and all the spark plugs got the engine running great then the smoke started. After further inspection I saw oil sitting on the valves thru the lower intake and I kept getting a p0300 code and a p0011 code so random misfire and intake valve timing solenoid code. It actually burned 6 quarts of oil in 800 miles. So I called around till I found a shop that specializes in Nissan's almost everyone wanted between 3000 to 6000 to rebuild the car. Finally caught a break and got a deal for 2200 for total rebuild and warranty. In all Ill have a total of 5000 in the car with purchase of it. I hope this is the last issue I have with it. sad part is I haven't even had the car a month before having to do this major repair to it. They told me that it will take a week before I get it back.

Sorry for the bad luck.

Make sure to get rid of your precats ASAP or have them gutted.

What's the name of the shop that specializes in Nissans?
I'm curious.

Rebuild engine

Why not try this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/141075311805...84.m1436.l2649

or this engine
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281319459883...84.m1436.l2661

You can buy a brand new VQ35DE for $6800.00 at courtesyparts with core exchange.

Engine rebuild is very time consuming usually takes more than a week, since they have to make sure all the pieces goes back together and the gaskets in place. When shop rebuild your engine, typically what replacing is new rod bearings, piston rings, hone the cylinder walls and sometimes they even replace the water pump for you, but they do replace the timing chains and tensioners and every part of the gaskets. at least the engine is original but buying a remanufacture engine is quickest replacement but cost more.

the pre cats were gutted I think that may have been part of the problem causing the back pressure to be incorrect thus allowing oil to seep past the valves. I put magna flo pre cats on the car last week. so it has brand new cats on it. Magic Auto is doing the rebuild for me for $2200. Z fever in Tampa wanted almost 4k for the same job and Arthens Z in Gainesville wanted $3500. Magic also had the best warranty. I was told that if the crank and cams were worn or scored or just simply in bad shape they will replace them. Honestly I am just looking to have a reliable clean running maxima 3.5 six speed. While this Maxima is being redone its back to driving my 4th gen 96 model se 5 speed Maxima. its still a fun car I lowered my 4th gen 1.5" in the front and 1" in the rear with 350 rims strut tower bar short shifter stage 2 clutch etc. Im so glad that I did not sell it cause I would be stuck with no way to work with out it. Only problem my 96 has is the infamous IAC issue due to faulty ecu just haven't had time to fix the issue with it.

Could be worth a shot..

http://shop.certechgels.com/product-...6-cylinder.htm

I put it in my Jeeps transfer case and it repaired the bearings. Im running it in my 3.5 engine right now and if it cures my oil consumption I will be posting about it.. Im 400 miles into the test with new oil. At 1k miles, evendence should be seen. It seems like a legit product and is cheaper than a rebuild.

I'm basing it on what I consider common sense.
$100 for a couple bottles of gel that "rebuild" an engine or synchros?

I can't help but call it a placebo effect.

If a product like this worked I would have expected it to be shouted from the rooftops and then bought out by an auto company to keep people buying new things.

Just my opinion.

I hear ya. But I have yet to find anyone that says they have tried it and it doesnt work.. Also its been around for several years. Its not an additive, its an engine ceramic. In 2014 the technology should be there. After all they can make a gel that will seize an engine in a few minutes..
