Hello all,

When I got my maxima, the up button to increase fan speed didn't work, so I bought a new piece on craigslist. The car has the automatic climate control.

Before taking out the old unit, the screen lit up just fine. I installed the new piece and the screen doesn't work, but all the buttons do. I re-installed the old unit and now the screen doesn't light up on either.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Interesting, maybe wiggle the dimmer switch some. Sounds like a plug issue. Does the unit still work (the functions minus the display)?

 

Could the control unit be malfunctioning? Or maybe a blown fuse, or relay? Is the wiring frayed or disconnected? But you said the buttons operate the blower motor?

 

I would check the pins in the wire harness connectors. Unplug the wire harness connectors and check that none of the pins have been pushed out of position/alignment.

Specifically, the wires for the display illumination are in the smaller connector, in the center under the locking clip.
