Fuel Pump

Anyone know a good brand for a fuel pump?
Are they all electric? What's so good about electric fuel pump?

I'm trying to replace the fuel pump hoping it can solve problem with codes
P0455 & P0442. I replaced the fuel cap but some reason that's not where the leak is coming from. The canister has been replaced. I want to buy it from Rockauto.com but not sure which one to go with. or are there any other websites that are cheaper or maybe worth to spend the money?

Thanks!

fuel pumps today are pretty much all electric, only carburated stuff had mechanical fuel pumps. if youre getting proper fuel pressure i cant suspect it being the source of a code

When I put my foot on the gas pedal to take off I always do it gently and slowly and when I do, sometimes it would feel like if someone else just hit the gas pedal along with mine and the car will take off making my head hit the headrest.

If you order the pump order the filter while you're at it!

I recently replaced my fuel filter , I'm close to 200k mi so out of curiosity opened up the old filter(not fun) but the actual filter inside looked like wet cardboard Lifetime my a'nus

The filter is a separate piece. I bought mine from the dealer. We get wholesale prices on everything through my shop and it was just under $20 for a brand new one for my 02. Regular price is around $25 I think. Maybe less. I can't speak on the quality or effectiveness of aftermarket filters for our 5.5 though maybe someone else can chime in on that.

The pump I remember being pricey from the dealer even with wholesale, but I researched which company manufactured it and bought that brand through rockauto. Let me go back and see if I can find out what I determined on that.

EDIT: Denso is the OEM for the fuel pump and it cost me around $70 or so before shipping. There were a couple years where Nissan switched to Delphi for fuel pumps but they eventually switched back to Denso and continue to use Denso to this day. The OEM filter is made by Beck/Arnley. B/A is fairly popular among parts store inventories so you might be able to find one locally or through rockauto. You'll just have to see what you can find. Hope that helps.

is it easy to install an electric?? I know there's only like 2 cables that connect to the fuel pump. Is it easy to replace the fuel pump filter? Also, do you recommend replacing the filter or simply replace the fuel pump?

There's nothing to it man. Unplug the old, plug in the new. Job done. And I do recommend going ahead and replacing the filter. It's part of the assembly and has to be removed to replace the fuel pump anyways. Nissan states that the filter is a "lifetime" filter but I am not inclined to believe that any filter is truly a lifetime filter. Lol.

The only trouble you might have is with the little clips that hold everything together. Some of them can be a bit stubborn. Patience prevails on this job.

I did it when it was 8° outside. Never knew gasoline could be so cold and not freeze. Yeah it not to hard just take your time make sure below a 1/4 tank or near empty or gas will squirt on to your back seat. I recommend looking it up on YouTube that's how I learned to change out the fuel pump.

I paid 25 for the pump and 10 for the filter on rock auto I think the strainer comes with the pump.
