Question about Coilovers

So I have a question about coilovers.. If I were to buy them for my 5thgen Nissan Maxima, and later decided to buy another Nissan.. Could I install the same coilovers I had on my Maxima on my new Nissan 240sx, 350z, whatever Nissan. Nissan's in general.

Buy them, take care of them and go back to stock and sell them separately if you every make the change to another Nissan. Or do the same thing with a "previously enjoyed" set.

It may be disappointing but when you think about it, the coilovers are based on suspension geometry, mounting locations, and travel, which is different for different vehicles. Imagine how lacking a "universal" coilover setup would be, performance wise.
