6gen brake upgrade

Can I upgrade just front for now and later do rears on a 5.5 with 6 gen brakes?

You won't get much benefit from installing 6th gen rear brakes. Most do front only.

I would highly recommend using Powerstop X-Drilled & Slotted rotors with Powerstop Z26 extreme pads...

This^

After tons of reading I only did the fronts and 99.9 percent have done the same. Benefit for the rears I believe is minimal.

A34 rears are completely different than A33's. The have a drum based E-brake.

Good thing u said that. I would of got rears too later just to match. I need to replace a caliper in the rear should I stay stock and do power stop rotors?

That jerkoff that did my strut that day didn't even tighten the top bolts

Yea I had him put the car back on the lift and check everything.

Anyway what else do I need for the brake upgrade. Do I need the caliper bracket. Or just rotors pads and calipers

Since you have a 5.5 all you need is Calipers, Pads and Rotors. The brake lines will fit and the calipers will bolt right up. Super easy swap.

Yeah, for me it would just be so they don't look so puny with the A34 front.

I'm not sure it's very overkill, it's just a slightly larger rotor, what is it, ~ 1" in diameter larger?

Overkill in terms of actually needing to upgrade - not rotor size.

An inch larger diameter definitely makes a difference, but discounted by the front/rear brake ratio, I wonder if it makes that large of a difference.

All a matter of preference though.

Aren't the rear not a direct swap?

The weight distribution of a 02-03 Maxima is ~61/34 so why bother trying to mod the rear then?

Not only it the brake diameter increased from (5.5th Gen) 11.65" to 12.6" the rotor is thicker and acts as a better heatsink than the smaller compromised 02-03 (check out the inboard rotor face) it's missing at least an 1" to clear the larger 00-03 spindle versus 85-99 spindles!
