Reason to fix that leaking Power Steering Hose
Here is a great reason to fix that power steering hose. My girlfriends car is currently sitting at Condi Auto Electric with a bill of 986$. They had to fix the wiring harness where it burnt up. The reason it burnt up was because of a leaking power steering hose. It had been leaking for about 6 months. One day she drove it maybe 2 miles, turned around came back home, went back inside and thankfully her neighbors was outside and was able to catch the fire before it got to bad and alert her. This was the outcome...

Had just put liability on it. An if yours is leaking hers leaked a little over 6 months before this happened. I've got to replace the return hose and the pressure hose once we get it back. Car on has 100k on it. It's had a hard life body wise...The previous owner drove like an idiot because it has its fair share of damage. Going to be in the market for a new hood.

To the guy running his with a leak wait till a nice and hot summer day it'll catch fire and burn. The electric repair shop we took it to, had actually seen a few ranging from 2000-2007 come in with the same exact issue. When I told the guy what happened he automatically asked me if the power steering had been leaking. I figured right away myself that was the cause since the fire started down near the catalytic converter.
I called a Nissan dealer to make sure it wasn't because of a recall or anything, and the guy there told me he'd sold a few wiring harnesses due to the same thing. The fluid isn't flammable right away, but once it gets hot enough that it does ignite it burns real hot, and its not easy to put out. We're glad it was worth fixing.
The car itself runs and drives great besides that issue that is the only problem we've had out of it. I was really impressed with just how fast this car is. Unfortunately I've got to replace that pressure hose and return hose myself. I also am going to be replacing the ps belt. I've seen a few videos it doesn't look easy to replace the pressure hose.
