a/c problem help plz??????????

ok i am having an a/c problem Ive recently re installed my a/c compressor and i noticed that the compressor wouldn't stay engaged sometimes it would work like a dream with ice cold air coming out for days and other days it would stay engage it would kick in for about a hour then cut out. any ideas i am assuming its the pressure switch or a relay....the fans would turn on and then turn back off...also if it is the pressure switch does any one know its location

It could be too much or too little refrigerant in the system.

The pressure switch is located on the driver's side, on a metal cylinder (the liquid tank) between the radiator and the headlight.

My 02 had a small leak somewhere in the system. Hopefully it turns out to be a simple fix.

check the high side if you have a/c gauges,,if it s too high it will cause a shutdown..the high side should read what the outside temp is and double it and plus 50,,that s when you know you ll have the proper fill of 134a,, for example,,,,,outside temp is 85 plus 85 equals 170lbs plus 50 lbs makes it 220 lbs on the high side reading..that would be helpful to get an close approx reading of the freon in your system...you need to pinpoint the leak and evac the system of moisture,,good luck

OK guys thanks for the input imma let a tech handle to see what the prob cause judging on my research and what u guys are saying it could be lack of freon in the system or a faulty/failing pressure switch and i don't have gauges to check the amount of Freon so imma let pro handle it next week thanks again will get back to you on final results next week or earlier
