Is it time to get rid of my 5th gen?? :cc

Recently I got into a car accident (wasn't really my fault but we're splitting it 50/50). The damage to my back bumper is $1300 at its cheapest. I also have two oil leaks that will come out around 750-1000 and last but not least, I need new breaks or something (no idea on cost, please help me out here).

The car has 190k miles on it and aside from the rear bumper damage, the body is in really good condition. The inside is leather and also in good condition. The engine is decently clean as I've made an effort to clean it and the car as often as I can.

The issue is the expenses per month are piling up and I'm not sure if I should get rid of it and get another car or what my options are.

I'm pretty much dirt broke if I pay for these repairs.

Also, if I got a new car it would be another Maxima 5th gen + (i cant drive anything less than a maxima) but I doubt I can find what I'm looking for in my price range.

Input please, I'm completely clueless haha :c

I really want to just keep the car and slowly fix things as I get the budget but I feel like something else will break before then.

Time to dump it

Car is ~12+ years old and not worth a lot. So spending ~$2000+ wouldn't make a whole sense

Wait...what's wrong with the bumper? Unless it actually tore something up just replace the bumper cover. 285 painted and shipped

There is damage on the quarter panel, light, bracket and small dent on the frame.

If there's frame damage, it's not worth fixing. Even if not, with 190k after an accident plus oil leaks, probably not worth it...

We recently flipped a 5th gen over here, bought it for $900 with 140k miles, all it needed was brakes (esp. rears) and front valve cover gasket. It sold for $3500

That said, you might wanna look around, Maximas with higher miles (150k+) like what you already have seem to be quite cheap, and many of them have few very minor issues that you can fix yourself just because the average car owners have no idea and no knowledge...

with that many miles & with how old the car is, i would just junk it at that point or try & part it out to cut your losses

with the frame damage its time to dump it, but If the car drives perfect, and no major issues, replace the parts that are bad with parts from a junkyard and maintain it until you can afford another vehicle.

That must be a tough decision, but I think they're right, its too much money for a car that age, unless you really like your car and plan to stay with it for a long time.
Take your time and think about it, because for that money it's not easy to get a good car.
If you ever decide to part out your car, i will be interested in the headlamps.

Frame damage = no more car.

As a side note, I am surprised how many people said to get rid of the car. One of my maximas is in HORRIBLE condition but it gets me to work and back (1 hr each way). It makes plenty of noises but it gets me there. Also, I don't care what happens to it. If it got totaled or dented at work, I do not care. I will only trade that for a car payment when I absolutely have to.

Car drives great. I did see a 02 grey Maxima with 100k miles no issues perfect exterior going for 4900 and I want to ****** it up. I think it's worth it. My car has $1300 body damages, + two oil leakes, + bad exhaust. I'd probably have to spend 3k to fix it.
