P1320 2000 Maxima
P1320 2000 Maxima
SES light just came on and is showing a P1320. I read through the forums and it says its usually a problem with the ignition coils. There are no other codes which signify a specific cylinder that is misfiring. How do I determine which ignition coil to purchase left of right side? Also the websites that I am checking show that Hitachi are the oem for nissan coils, while other people on the forum says it's hanshin?
You'll feel the car missfire when it does and at first it'll do it intermittently before it completely fails... Then the code to whatever coil failed will turn on.
The code you have though i've read Nissan will want to change all the coils to the upgraded ones as a fix.
The ecu will see that the signal on your coils are not all the same so it'll throw that code even if they are firing just fine. I have also read that certain plugs could trip the code like Bosch platinum.
In my car I have 3 different types of coils (old style, newer style, and duralast) and never tripped that code.
Also ngk g-power plugs.
Bad old wires could cause the code also.

I had the same code about a year ago and about 2 months later was able to feel a misfire under heavy throttle, after that i was able to get a misfire cyl 6 code, swapped coils with cyl 4, reset codes, and a week or so later when the car misfired again, code came up for cyl 4 (as i had hoped) replaced ALL ignition coils, reset codes again, no issues since
Yes, 1 of the coils are aftermarket which I changed about 2 years ago. It was one of the rear coils, not sure which cylinder exactly. The rest are original, but since it's not throwing a code for a specific cylinder, I don't want to replace them all if they are working.
