What are the best lowering springs

I just bought a 2002 maxima gle and it sits a lot higher than my honda accord. I would like the maxima to sit as low or a little lower than the accord. How much of a drop would that be and what are some good lowering springs?

^^ Shiftice.com does have a real nice article there on suspension choices.

Also, you should really check out (and ask questions):

djfrestyl's DEFINITIVE "I HAVE A SUSPENSION QUESTION" THREAD!!!

Besides that, if you're looking for a modest drop (1.3-1.4"), nothing too low, and best handling = H&R springs with KYB GR-2 hands down. These are the only springs that keep the stock suspension geometry intact, everything lower like Tein S Tech causes a reverse rake stance, with the front lower than rear.

Other springs that offer similar drops to H&R, have been deemed lesser quality and way worse ride..

Yeah, Eibachs good too.

Generally considered more rough riding than H&R tho, stiffer springs.

And I already get some bump steer on big bumps at times with H&R so not sure any stiffer is better..

You mean the springs? He might be right. I used 300k springs on the Camry because I was broke and they weren't broken when I sold it with ~400k

WTF is a reverse rake stance? Most cars are lower is the front than rear which is a sport stance. A Lower rear than front is a reverse rake stance like worn out 4th gens with their headlights aiming up in the trees. Progress were the best but no longer available, ST, HR, Teins, Eibach are the only worth looking at IMO...go here folks: http://www.importcarpartsplus.com/ma...ion.htm#Shocks

^ Eh, relax. No need to go all WTF on me lolz..

By reverse rake in this case I meant opposite of what the stock setup is, on a 5th gen Maxima.

If you look at BMW 3 series coupes the stance is like a Maxima despite being RWD, it doesn't have a "sports stance" as u say like a 7th gen Maxima with huge gap in rear wheels..

So with H&R you keep stock proportions between front/back and a level car... some other springs set the front lower and ruin steering. And no the rear doesnt look saggy and lights not up in the lights? Eh, yes thats it.

You're welcome.

Eibachs don't even lower it, and it still sits higher in the front. Don't waste your money. Megans+wheel spacers.

Sigh.

The noobosity is high in this thread.

First, picking a spring from this link is a shot in the dark because many of the springs on that page are no longer available. My favorites are H&R, hands down.
http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html

Second, DO NOT BUY EIBACH SPRINGS.

Third, read my thread. Has all the info you could possibly ever want about suspensions, lowering, parts, strategy, cost, etc.

Fourth, if you still have a question, PM me. I consult for free.

Lastly, if you're local to NJ, I HIGHLY recommend you PM me - I install for VERY fair prices.

Dude, no offense but have you any idea the knowledge this man has?..Theres a reason hes known as "suspension yoda" and has 13000 posts here over many years.

And whats wrong with suggesting an install to help other members? Especially who are local and can benefit not only by saving money but also getting a quality job.

Just sayin.

Not a fan of D2. They clunk, pop, and twang even when properly installed.

Megan's I like. Just make sure on the fronts, the lower bracket is on the correct side when you install. A batch of them got assembled incorrectly and you have to swap the lower bracket. If you don't, your camber plates will not be straight when you install the assemblies.

Not always the best reasoning here.

Many factors need to be considered when deciding between spring/strut and coilover. Cost, maintenance effort, comfort, LONGEVITY, driving style, list goes on....

Your decision to go with coilovers is because Eibach suck. They might look the best, but they handle like crap, and will eventually break. Yes, your Eibach spring will literally break. Pick a better spring and maybe you'll stick a spring/strut setup.

Lol. Hokay buddy, thanks for your input.

1. I've spent a lot of time writing things up based on my experience. I ask members on here to spend a fraction of that time to read what I wrote, because I don't care to rewrite it every time it gets asked again.

2. I recommend parts based on requirements. Cost, driving style, strategy for the car, lowering/not, desire to maintain are some of the inputs that I use to recommend what works best for any given member. Ask anyone on here, I've happily had a phone conversation with plenty of members to advise them, even if I wasn't doing the install, regardless of where they are located.

3. Me installing a local org member's suspension is MUTUALLY beneficial, I'm not trying to hide that, nor have I ever.

4. I've donated to the forum. You have not.

[QUOTE=D.Stillwell;8992509]TE]

I was thinking of getting h&r but I want it to sit low and Megan springs sit lower than h&R. Not unless the ride quality is a lot worse with Megan springs.

The roll eyes wasnt directed at you dude..it was for george_

Megans are fine and yeah if you care to have more flush looks will certainly look better up front, but the H&R handles better.

That's the tradeoff, you have to choose one and live with it.

I wouldn't say Megan's are riced out. Yea, they're lower, yea they don't handle as well as H&R, but if we perhaps put them on a scale of 1 to 10, we're comparing a 5 and a 8, not a 2 and a 9.
