Bose tape deck error
Bose tape deck error
Bought my 5.5 back in April, the cassette player worked great with my cassette adapter up until my alternator gave out and after that entire fiasco my cassette adapter would Check side 1 then 2 then error, so I figured the adapter itself was broken so I bought the most expensive one there and the brand name one thinking it would help.. went to my car opened up the packaging, stuck the adapter in and same thing! Error. Keeps popping the thing out. Anyone help?
$200 to repair a deck that has a cassette slot? Are you guys seriously considering this option in 2014?
Go aftermarket with an aux hookup. It will make your speakers sound much better than they did with the OEM deck.

For that second reason and that alone is why I'm considering for the 2nd time looking at a 7" in dash. It's just the factory setup is the 1st ever OEM that I'm actually ever satisfied with. Had it come with aux I would just fix it.
as Djfrestyl mentioned...but i will add. Its almost 2015 and you'r still dealing with the tape deck in your car.
Still; ill offer a trick that may work as it used to for me a decade ago...
If tape keeps switching sides; try hitting the forward/reverse button a few times. This often fixed the issue for me. Somehow the tape heads got to where they needed to be.

The Bose units are not very reliable, imho.
My CD/laser went out more than year ago, and the entire head unit two months ago. I replaced with a new unit. I had it done at a local audio shop, but you can do it yourself. The parts are about $200 ($110-140 for the unit, then about $50-70 for three adapters; this is because you have Bose speakers and wiring, need adapters for power, speakers, and antenna).

A stereo component of a time period hardly tells a story of the whole car....
thats called dated technology.
5th/5.5 same applies. I love my 02 & the stereo was the first thing to go.
