2003 maxima
2003 maxima
okay let's try this again I'm going to buy 02 or 03 Maxima 6 speed my choice is a California car because they're clean and rust free I live in the midwest everything out here is rusted my question is as follows due to their strict exhaust emissions laws do they have more pollution items on the exhaust system that will affect the performance?

I think what he is attempting to ask/say is if a Cali-spec Maxima is a bad choice because of the different emissions spec that these Maxima's have, they may be slower...
so here it is
1) No I never heard of cali-spec cars being slower
2) If you put an aftermarket y-pipe it will yield more power

Starting somewhere during the 2001 model year, the government changed the emissions standards. All cars (not only Nissan) became USA spec. The result of this was that there were no longer Cali spec and Federal spec cars. Kinda like unisex I guess.
A 2003 sold anywhere in the country was the same as a 2003 sold in California.

I wouldn't limit the search to California. Anywhere south of the snow belt will have rust free cars. Here in NW Florida we almost never see a rusted car. The ones we do see are usually from up north.
I'm in Orlando Florida got my max rust free with a perfect body. nothing is worse than having an up north car.
I had 3 MR2's and 2 of them were from up north and were real rusty. one was so bad a rear lower mount wasn't even attachable anymore ! couldn't be welded so I had to part it out.

thanks guys that's a lot of help anyways now I'm told this 02 Maxima needs control arm bushings the seller says he had it checked out because when you shift you can hear clanking and he says it's metal to metal I do want to buy this car but does anybody know if that is an expensive job ,,I'm paying 3000 for the car and 800 to ship it California to Chicago
