Oil change
I've got a 2001 Nissan Maxima with 205xxx.. Finally made the decision to switch over to synthetic, which oil would be best for these cars? I know Mobil 1 is most popular, 5w-30? just want to consult the org before moving ahead with it

I've always liked ENEOS, but doesn't look like anyone sells it here, so probably gonna pick up some M1 from WalMart when it comes time for a change.
Make sure you don't have any existing leaks because syn oil will make them worse.
As far as oil brand, pick up whatever's on sale at Walmart. Also use a good quality oil filter and not some el cheapo no-name.

My personal preference is:
Kendall GT1 Full-Synthetic 5W-30
Denso Oil filter
I've been running this combo for about 20k miles now, the oil level is always perfect between 5k mile interval changes. Besides that, this Kendall oil seems to come out cleaner after 5k miles than did Mobil1. Also, this oil seems to flow better on cold start and circulates very quickly.

Number 1 thing look on bobistheoilguy there probably is somebody with a vq who got whatever oil tested @ xxx miles.
Penz platinum one of the best oil right now $25 at walmart.
Manual says 5w30 for all weather but 10w30 or 10w40 is allowed.

With that logic, might as well run some Lamborghini oil in your Maxima. Why not?
It has to be good since it's being used in supercars right? Must be an unknown secret that all of us dont know about?!?

Just a quick note that Wix makes the Napa Gold line of oil filters. In fact the Wix and Napa Gold filters use part numbers that are amazingly similar.
Here's the good news. Napa has an annual sale where the Napa Gold filters can be purchased for 40% to 70% off. The annual usually starts around this time of the year and runs through a date in March. A couple of years ago I purchased a case of Napa Gold filters during the annual sale. I may need to replenish my stock this year as I have 3 cars that all use the same filter. Now is a good time to start watching for the annual Napa Gold filter sale at your local Napa dealer.
