Having starting issues...

Hey all, I'm new here but I'm on my second maxima. Currently own an '01 SE auto that just rolled over 200,000, owned a '97 Maxima before that with 225,000 before I got rid of it. But I digress..

Anyway, my car sometimes randomly doesnt start when I turn the key. When it doesn't start, absolutely nothing happens. As in, I turn the key, no noise or response or anything, as if you're trying to start it when it's in gear. When it does start, it starts perfectly fine, no slow crank, no delay on turning over, it starts as if nothing is wrong at all. This leads me to think its a wiring problem, considering the starter is only about 4 months old. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Also I noticed that when I hold the shifter and push it in park with a bit of force, it always starts up. I wonder if that has to do with anything.

Yes. Your P/N ("Park/Neutral") switch is either worn out or out of adjustment.
