Coil #5 REPLACEMENT HELP!!!!!

Can someone please tell me how to easily replace coil #5? I took it out because of the P305 code. It is a pain in the a$$ to get back in... I don't want to have to remove or loosen the throttle cable. PLEASE HELP!!

It's just a cable don't worry....just note the position of the nuts or mark them with a Sharpie

Use OEM OR Hitachi ONLY.

If the plug tab thingy seems to be stuck try using a tiny flat head screw driver (used to fix laptops / electronics) for help

I always remove the throttle plate and the bracket on top of the manifold to get the #5 coil out, it's more room that way.

If you have a cylinder #5 misfire & you have a 5.5gen it may not be a faulty coil. The faulty valve covers leaks oil into the 5th cylinder spark plug bank. If the boot is covered in oil replace the rear valve cover with a 6th gen kit.

I replaced the spark plugs this weekend with OEM NGK's. I ordered a Hitachi replacement coil for #5 and didn't notice any oil on the spark plug upon removal or on the old coil pack boot. So I am hoping its just the coil since no oil was present. I am going to try and remove throttle plate and bracket to make my life easier upon installation. Thanks for the response from all of you.

If you're already ripping out the manifold may as well fix up the valve cover.........

you have never stated, if you have a 5.5 3.5 or a 3.0.

The 95-01 maximas have throttle cables and throttle body. The 02-03 maximas have a electronic throttle brive by response,no butterfly flaps for the throttle cables. I guess, I just skimmed the whole article. It's always less confusing explaining what you got. I hope you got the car in the right direction with the right parts.

Incorrect, there is still a butterfly flap in the 02/3, just controlled electronically and not by cable.

I was talking about the thing that the cables hook into that circler flap thing that holds the two cables on the tb.

Pretty sure we all know what the point is, so, moot point on both our ends.

Yeah...looks like a pain in the **** job (but, i've never gotten back there).

How did you change the plug without moving the throttle cable?

The 3.5 needs the cover and the mannifold plenium to come off to do the back three.
