Have a HP line hose leak, need to drive the car back and forth to work and errands, don't have the funds to take it to the stealership and the time/tools to pick up a new one, tools, and throw it on myself. I know on old Hondas (plzzz don't flame me too bad), you could remove the belt and be alright. This is a temp fix, about a month or so. Just want to make sure I'm not doing more harm than good. Not worried at all about the effort it's gonna take to turn the wheels, mainly that I'm not going to destroy the pump/rack for when I have time and everything needed to throw it back on.

It's not that bad of a job and requires minimal tools. If you can competently work on cars, then you can do it pretty easily. It's just slightly time consuming (unless you use long needle nose to squeeze the clamp ).

You can bypass it, but you won't be going anywhere at low speed LOL. It's heavier than a honda and the gearing isn't there.

Literally, there's almost nothing to it. Take of wheel, stick half inch ratchet in there and break the banjo free (let it drain out), undo the top hardline, take off the clamp behind the intake manifold, swap over pressure switch, put new hose in but only the banjo, get the clamp around the hose and squeeze it together with long pliers and thread the bolt in, then screw the top hardline back together.

YAY, you did it in less than an hour (probably 30 mins with the pliers trick).

I got the hose for 51 off ebay since stores are well over 100 even with codes.

 

Is the leak so bad that you can't refill the PS fluid every now and then and be ok until you can get it fixed? I would much prefer to do this than cut the belt.

I left the original clamp on it but put a enormous industrial grade clamp used on certain machinery and zero leaks for over 2 years
