electrical problem

electrical problem

I have a 2002 nissan maxima i got my leds for the dome light i tried putting them in but they didn't fit them i saw a spark fly next thing i know the dome lights in the ceiling dont work anymore and the powerlocks and key fob stoped working the lights for my doors and trunk stay on also did i blow a fuse? This never happend till i tried putting in the led bulbs.

Is it the fuse box under the steering wheel? And where is the interior lighting fuse

that fuse would be in the fuse box under the steering wheel.

I hear that fuse shares with the power door locks and windows thats probably why my trunk light and door light keep staying on even though there closed

If the lights are staying on, the fuse is not blown. Think about it.

The way most of the interior lights work is that there is power to the lamp all the time. To turn on the lamp, ground is applied to the lamp. This ground comes from the SECU module that acts as the on/off switch.

battery --> fuse --> lamp --> SECU --> ground.

Reset the SECU by connecting the positive lead from the battery for a minute or two and then re-install and see if this fixes the problem.

Out of curiosity, were you changing the lamps by the rear view mirror when the spark happened?

Fixed it was a blown 10a fuse thanks guys
