2000 maxima gle 140k miles...When the car has been sitting for 2+ hours it takes 6 seconds for the transmission to engage when shifting from park to drive. Very long delay. However, if you were to shift back to park then drive, the delay is gone until the transmission cools down (2-3 hours). Car drives with no issues. I changed the solenoid packs without any changes...

 

It's sitting for 2 hours turned on or off?

 

turned off, basically when the transmission fluid is cool..

 

Mine does the something... not only that but when slowing down for let's say a speed bump, it goes into neutral. It would delay to shift back into gear...

 

How old is the fluid?

 

Did you drain or flush the transmission when you changed the solenoids?

The transmissions can act really funny and what you describe sounds like a solenoid issue. Last time I had slipping issues from 1 to 2 in my tranny I changed the solenoids and no change or improvement. But...it took a couple weeks because about 2 weeks later it did stop slipping.

If you didn't, I would recommend flushing the transmission. I know a lot of people don't like doing this on older transmissions, but that is only if you never maintain the tranny.

However, this really isn't a big deal so if you don't want to spend the money just leave it alone until something changes.
