Some trouble codes, need help ordering correct parts.

Hi all. 2002 Maxima and my check engine light is on. Advanced Auto pulled my codes and I have 3 codes...

P0159 - O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2 slow response
P1167 - Didn't give description but seems similar to bad O2 sensor
P1800 - Valve solenoid of some sort.

First off the O2 sensor... I pulled a chart of the maxima sensors but I have no idea which one it is. I marked the one I 'think' it is.

Am I correct that the part number should be 22690NA?

And I found the solenoid on ebay for $50. Can I do better?

Yes, your arrow identifies the correct sensor (Bank 2, sensor 2, aka "rear"). Re. P1800, do a search on "P1800" and read the interesting threads. There are quite a few posts on this problem; you need to read them to diagnose your problem properly.

P1167 is another code for the bank 2 sensor 2 oxygen sensor.

P1800 is the VIAS Control Solenoid Valve circuit. See page EC-686 in the link below:

Bank 2 Sensor 2 would be the "downstream front" oxygen sensor. The stock sensors are Bosch and the downstream fronts have a part number of 15224 according to Pep Boys.

Pep Boys - Bosch 15224 $100

Amazon - Bosch 15224 Amazon - Bosch 15224
$49.08

There may be slightly cheaper universal fitment types but I'd go with OE for a few dollars (literally) more any day.

I am currently waiting for a downstream rear oxygen sensor (15225) from Bosch an Amazon if you want to wait until tomorrow for me to be a guinea pig. They are the same sensor but with different wire lengths if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for all the responses guys. That Bosch 15224 was a good find. I was getting nowhere googling 22690NA. I think I'll order it today. I trust it's the correct part but to be clear, I want the 15224 (shorter cable) correct?

It sounds like the P1800 might be a "need to fix" something rather than replacing a $50 part. Am I correct in that assumption?

It's the right part according to autozone/pepboys, which in my own experience is generally reliable excluding an experience I had replacing a friends A/C belt on an Infiniti G35 2007. And yes you would be getting the version with the shorter cable (15224.) I just mentioned the other as mine will be arriving today so I can confirm the part works if you wanted to wait.

Usually the solenoid has gone bad. It is easy enough to check out. Start by doing an ohm check on the solenoid. IIRC, it is in the 15 to 20 ohm range. You can also jumper 12 volts to it and see if it works.

Is this the correct part? On Nissan's parts website it's listed as 2004 to 2006 so not sure.

Order is placed for the O2 sensor. Hope I don't have to bloody up my knuckles to install it

Mine just arrived and was easy to install and is working well. You just need a set of needle nose pliers to remove the clips and a 22 mm or 7/8 inch wrench to remove the sensor itself.

I borrowed an oxygen sensor wrench from Autozone as my 22 mm was inaccessible at the time.

Well I tested the VIAS solenoid and it read about 36-37 ohms. I'm assuming that's a good sign that it's bad? I did get a good picture of it for research though... $70 used! ouch. No aftermarket options on this part? only OEM?

Anyway, the o2 sensor comes tomorrow. Hopefully I can make some time to replace it.

The part number you got on nissanusa.com is the correct one. Small parts like that get used on so many different models and years. But I hope you haven't ordered it from them because it is $50 cheaper here:

As to the resistance, 37 ohms sounds OK to me, but I really don't know what it should be.
