Wierd looking Oxygen sensor

We pulled this upstream O2 sensor from a friends Maxima.Anyone know why this O2 sensor got deformed in this way,clogged cat pre-cat maybe? Never seen a O2 sensor in this shape before.

Looks like it melted and deformed.
Wonder if a piece of disintegrating cat hit it.
It is odd.
