2nd estimate now adjustor wants to meet???

I know the SECOND ESTIMATE from Monday was $4-4500.00 including parts and labour. No clue what the first estimate was -_-"

I called adjuster today and the adjuster wanted to see the car in person either at home or at work. Adjustor didn't mention meeting at my preferred body shop. Is this some kind of tactic to make me sign on a dotted line and I get f8ked over down the road? Or does the adjustor want to come out and see car in person? What's the meet going to be about!?!?!

They want to see the car in person obviously, so they can see exactly what damage occured. They then take this info and get a ballpark number on the repair costs.

This is standard procedure, no signing or agreements take place. Its not like they would just blindly take your estimate and description of damage lol, they need to see for themselves.

Anything over $2.5-3K is pretty well a guaranteed write off for these cars.

which is why it would be best to let insurance write it off, buy it back from them, then fix it yourself no?

But you don't need multiple estimates for repairs.

All two estimates were through the insurance company's preferred shops after the adjustor told me to go. So why meet me now after dragging their feet since last week and this is like the fourth adjustor whose given me directions

What more can they find out in person? They have pictures from the police report, pictures and estimates from shop #1 and shop #2...

This has to be some kind of tactic/angle.

They will never deal with any car issue unless they see it in person. Pictures/records/etc can be manipulated, faked, obscured, you name it. They are simply coming to see exactly what damage occured, estimating the cost of repair, and judging the value of your car before it was in an accident. This isnt some sort of scam tactic, its basic procedure.

Theres never a garantee that the insurance company will total your car. They might find that the damage does not exceed the value of the car, and will instead opt to repair it. Regardless, you have more or less little to no say in this process. All you can really do is sit back and hope for your preferred outcome - or face them in court (good fking luck lol).

That's not entirely true. If the damages are close to the value of the car and the insurance company wants to total it, there's a chance you'll change their mind if you raise enough fuss. And if they do total it, make sure you get it appraised on your own. They will try to low ball you. But even totaled isn't all bad. You can then buy it back from the insurance company for next to nothing and fix it yourself with the settlement money.

Time to buy it back and either keep driving it with the damage, or fix it yourself!

You can buy it back with a salvage title and repair the damage. People do it all the time. Then you get insurance on it again...liability only of course.

Oh okay, fair enough! Makes sense. I don't know a ton about insurance/ repair status... I do know I got burnt on my incident and should have done things differently!

If the car doesnt have frame damage, just get a rebuilt title and use it as a daily beater, abd put the insurance money towards a nice weekend/project car. AFAIK, theres no requirement to fix body damage as far as dmv inspections go. If theres frame damage then obviously the car is shot and destined for a part out.

Even local quotes are ~$3500 range so either move on or buy another Maxima
