Proper way to install/seat injectors?

Hey guys, im reinstalling the injectors on my DEK engine and im not quite sure if i am doing it properly. How do you know of the injectors are seated correctly? I found threads pertaining to side feed injectors that say you need to pretty much hammer them in to get them seated, however considering these are top feed im not sure sure that applies.

Do you just simply pop them into the ports by hand? Or do they need to be popped in and then hammered down? When i pop them in they seem somewhat loose - they have all new hardware so i know thats not the issue here.

Can i simply pop them in and then install the rail over them and tighten it down (or install them into the rail first with the retaining clips and pop them all in)?

Any feedback is appreciated, i want to make sure that i dont have to do this all over lol.

You can use a small amount of petroleum jelly if you want help and wiggle/push the injectors in the rail..it's pretty easy though.

Oil, jelly, spit, anything along those lines to lubricate the orings. Spit is my favorite.

I lube up the top O-Rings press into fuel rail by hand, install retaining clips, lube up lower O-Rings, line up all 6 injectors and press into the LIM, then torque to spec.

No hammer recommended.

I got the rail part figured out - i actually had it bolted down with the injectors in and retaining clips installed. However i wasnt sure about how they were seated on the lower intake manifold.

It appears that the oring makes a sufficient seal in itself when you just push the injectors into the lim. I just wanted to double check if they are supposed to "click" in somehow and lock into place even further with the pintles or something. Going on feel alone, it seems that the oring is touching the lim "seat", but theres still play in that position (without the rail on of course).

In a nutshell, do the injectors click/snap into the lim? Or is the position that you get them in when you push them in by hand with a little bit of force the proper seated position?

EDIT: just wanted to clarify i used a light film of motor oil on the orings to lube them up - they push in like a dream. Based on schmellys post, im assuming popping them into the LIM by hand is all that needs to be done here?

Thanks a ton! Looking forward to wrapping this install up tomorrow - and then moving on to redoing the valve cover gaskets that the idiot previous owner practically submerged in red RTV -_-

Thanks again fakie and schmelly!
