Paint Match Replacement Body Parts
Hey all,
So when I bought my 02, the previous owner repaired the passenger side by replacing the front door... he used an 00 door which was whiter than the rest of the car. I assume it was a qt1 paint code door and the car is qx1. The rear passenger door had a nice sized dent so I put another door from the junkyard and it matched up nicely.
I just got a white front door from an 03 and it looks darker white than the rest of the car...
I assume it is the same paint code but perhaps mixed a little differently at the factory? Perhaps it didn't get exposed to the same amount of sunlight as it was sitting in a row of doors at the junkyard?
Anything I could do to lighten it up some?
thanks
Chris

This is the answer. When my 5.5 gen got damaged a few years ago, my fiend that works at a paint and body shop mentioned that the year of the car is very important with respect to the age of the car and where it's lived it's life since the blending process is a little more involved if it were garaged kept, in the sunbelt, 10 years old, etc.

It doesn't look too bad... maybe over time it will blend in better...
I washed it and put some ulitmate compound as well...
2000 front door (and smashed rear door):
2003 front door, 2002 rear door replacements:
I googled the VIN and found the car before the last guy bought it and repaired it (right before I bought it):

Interesting post for me because I got a front door off another year Max which was white. I believe it was an 00 door for my 01 Max. It was a great match! Now I am about to get a rear quarter panel and bumper from another white Max either 00 or 02. I'll have to inspect it and report back.
