some 5th gen transmissions are "LSD" versions. is that traction control?
LSD = limited slip differential, and physical device that's part of the transmission. When one wheels starts slipping, torque is transferred to the other wheel.
Traction Control = an electronic nanny. Wheel sensors and a computer work together to control wheelspin. They watch the wheels, and once they detect wheelspin, they either brake the slipping wheel, or reduce engine power by retarding ignition timing, etc. Sophisticated, but still a nanny.
I wonder if there are vehicles out there that have traction control AND an LSD. Hmmmmmm.

Lots of them. Nearly every modern car now has traction control and stability control (anti-skid). Any decent performance car will also have LSD.
just got a beautiful 99 SE-L damn near perfect condition. first time Iv ever had a SE-L and saw this(see pic) does that mean I have traction control and slip differential? I dont understand it...
Traction control works by cutting throttle until it stops slipping. It doesn't actually improve traction. It simply cuts power to the point it won't break traction.
LSD delivers power to both wheels but won't cut power if they start to spin. It genuinely improves traction but will let the wheels spin if power still exceeds traction.
It uses fluids and abs control sensors to try and control the car... Not as good as HLSD

Ahh makes sense. Well at least it some type of control. Rather have it than not I guess.
