335 is

On my way home from the shop today a 335 is rollled next to me and floored it... at the time all I saw was a white BMW and I floored it as well... stayed right with him until he got next to me at the upcoming light...

So anyway, we take off and I'm ahead of the guy all the way until 100... then he started creeping up but never passes me...

So I slow down due to coming up on traffic... he changes to the slow lane and passes, and I see 335 is with the 335 is body kit and all that, so I assume it was a "real" one...

I'm pretty surprised at the performance of the Max today...

I guess the headers, intake, exhaust, VIAS block helped out some...

Either he wasn't really trying or that wasn't a 335is. Those cars are real quick with the turbo stock, and modded they make 400 HP with a JB4.

They're not that quick. Especially with the mods he has, I'm not surprised he took that 335. Now a modded 335 is a different story..

Crock of sh8t

*** this was before I did the MT swap so the car had transgo hd2 AT transmission ***

My family member used to own a 2008 BMW 335I sedan w/ manual transmission and the BMW was far superior, it felt GLUED to the road.

You probably raced a idiot with a BMW 328 with body kit or he/she couldn't drive.

No way you're going to catch up to a 2 door 335is coupe in a gen 5.5 NA build lol

I expected these types of responses... I have no reason to make up stories...

But I will say I highly doubt it was a modded appearance 328...but hey who knows...

And the driver was all out racing me...not cruising along...he actually instigated both pulls...

I believe that car is slightly heavier and he was probably bone stock...

Or maybe it was a 328... but I really doubt it.

Maybe the 335 blew its turbos? lol

They are known for that....

But otherwise, beating a 335 in ANY gen Maxima with N/A engine is only a dream not reality.

Besides that though, even if you do lose to one of those you can always brush it off and laugh at the guy at the next light for buying an overpriced POS with bad wastegate and poor turbo build and also a car you can't check the oil on....

lol...

Hey like I said, if it was a clone it was a hell of a clone... I don't know who would go through all the trouble of changing out every exterior item from wheels to body to emblems... and then on top of that LOOK for a race knowing you really have a 328i? Doesn't make sense to me...

Plus I've run an E92 328i before and it wasn't much of a race...

This was head to head all the way... he was on my quarter the whole time up until around 95-100 he started pulling up slowly then we hit traffic.

But ok fellas...

Yep... now if I could be as cool as you, Forum Jokester Guy.

If I open her up once in a blue moon so what...

So when are you trading in for that Prius Hybrid?

I don't see why all of you think it's hard to believe. A 335 puts out 300 hp and a modded max like chrisduke's, I would assume, also puts out about 300 hp at the crank. Not only that, but both are about the same weight. In fact, the max may be slightly lighter. I believe him 100%!

Well...actually, you will figure out why you sound like a douchebag later in life. No need to give kids lessons on this. I'll let life sort it out for you. Keep up the manhood....that's exactly what you need to do.

I have a 2009 335i and my wife has a 2011 Maxima SV with sport and technology packages. Stock my car would smoke her's. A 335is is rated at 320 hp vs. my car's 300hp. However they are known to be underrated with dyno's showing 275-285 hp at the wheels. I added a JB4, downpipes, and dual cone intakes and am at 400 +hp to the wheels. One way you can tell the difference is the exhaust tips. 2 pipes together on the left side is a basic 3 series. 335 has 2 pipes, one on each side of the rear bumper and an M3 will have quad tips. However you can get quad tips on a 335.
Oh and as far as BMW's being overpriced POS's .....we had a 1998 Maxima that I gave to my son with 200k, and we replaced with the 2011. My son just replaced the 1998 with a 2000. We enjoy our Maximas but I love my car. It is the most amazing car I have ever owned. It handles like a sport car should. I've embarrassed many "muscle cars" with it's performance. If you've never owned or even driven one, you shouldn't talk smack unless you have first hand experience.

For your own knowledge, BMW extended their warranty on the N54 because so many people were having turbo/waste gate issues.

Haven't heard of Nissan doing anything to correct issues with their motors....And trust me, I love Nissan and most of their products, but they seriously lack in customer service.

I'm assuming you've never driven a BMW either, or else you'd know that they're actually a really good platform for builds, as most modified N54s/N55s are making 400+ HP with minimal mods and just a flash. Let me see the receipts for everything you need to get a Maxima anywhere close to 400 HP.

POS tho, right?

As for not being able to check the oil...Why would an auto manufacturer not include something as vital as being able to check the oil on a car? BMWs without iDrive can use the Board Computer to check the oil level. And using iDrive to check the oil level isn't exactly rocket science either.

And if anyone is laughing at anyone in this scenario, it's the guy in the BMW. Nothing funnier than a 20-something year old in a car from the early 2000s trying to race everyone who glances his way at a stop light.

BMWs are awesome cars.... no denying that... I have driven several and owned two...

back in 2010 I had an 02 325i that I bought used with 60k and it was the smoothest driving car in every aspect. Was a little small for me (I'm 6'3") so I sold it after about a year and a half to my buddy's dad (who still owns and drives it to this day)...

With that being said, I certainly don't intend on saying Maxima is a better vehicle... I am happy with my Max though, especially since I got her for 1700 bucks about a year ago... I think they are great cars for the money.

And as far as the exhaust, yes the vehicle I was toying with had dual exhaust and not the single exhaust coming out of the left side...

I'm not a "street racer" and I don't go around looking to race or hang out at car meets... but yes on occasion I will test her out... who's gonna have a 6 speed modified Maxima and not see what she's got once in a while?

Sorry man, I don't think he was going 100%. 335is are very quick stock, even quicker with the DCT. Usually underrated from the factory. Majority of them are modified too, so I'd say he was messing around.

But with all that said, that is a fun 5.5. Add the NWP spacers to that list for the summer.

You sound bitter. Maybe calm down with the **** talking? I'd be bitter too if I bought eBay headlights and painted my fogs. You can check the oil easily, my wastegates work fine, and my turbos hit 18psi strong on this new 400whp/450wtq tune. Anything else?

I hear you, but I still feel he was going all out...

Funniest part to me was, after the initial roll when he got next to me at the light I heard him on his bluetooth talking to someone saying "okay okay I gott go man I'm about to race somebody"... guy had a stressed out serious look on his face... then again he was with his girl, so pride was on the line lol...

Thanks - I have the 5 piece spacer kit... got it last week but still have to install it.
