Transmission Code 9?

Hi All

My automatic transmission has been acting strange in cold weather, it stays stuck between 3rd and overdrive for about 10-15 minutes, then falls to overdrive as it normally should.

Using an Autel Maxisys diagnostic tool, it reported a "Code 9" regarding the transmission..

Does anyone know what this code points to or explains the problem?

I never heard of "code 9" in Nissan documentation, so I guess it is unique to the Autel company.

Is your check engine light on? If it is, a regular OBD code reader can display it. OBD codes for the auto trans are in the P07?? range.

If you want, you can run the self diagnostic that is built into the TCM (Transmission Control Module). The results are displayed to you by flashing the overdrive or the a/t check light in the instrument cluster and you count the number of short and long flashes.

Since you didn't say what year your car is, I'm going to give you a link to the 2002 service manual. I think the self test is the same for all years of the 5th gen.

The diagnostic procedure starts on page 51:
