And I came away very impressed. The only problem is it didn't have the HLSD of course. Does anyone know when the HLSD cars will reach the dealerships here in America? I think it would take less time just to wait for the cars to arrive rather than order one right? My dealers is going to check their allotment Monday and see if they will be getting any new Max's in February with the HLSD and 6spd and the drilled aluminum pedals I'm going to be Max'd soon

A few VQ ramblings

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I was looking under the hood of the Gray Lustre SE and I noticed that the factory intake was baffled and looked overall pretty restrictive. We pulled out the air filter and its an pink/orange color similar to a K&N but its still paper (nice try Nissan ). I would think just by adding an intake like yours Steve would make a noticeable difference in acceleration and a CAI would really be a huge jump in HP. An intake and a nice cat-back exhuast would probably push the car to over 270 hp Another thing I noticed about the car was how rev-happy it was. During hard acceleration I'd have to concentrate on shifting or else I'd bang against that rev limiter before I knew it. Having VVT is going to be a nice feature for someone making an aftermarket chip for the car. Thats a parameter that can be exploited for additional hp over non-VVT engine so I'm hoping for someone like JWT to tack on maybe another 15-20hp at the wheels with an upgraded ECU or daughter board. And then there's the prospect of nitrous but I wouldn't want to think of what a new VQ motor would cost if you burnt some piston rings. They do make as low as a 40 hp shot for some cars so we'll have to see wait and see what develops for the new 2002 Max's in the future!

Don't count on a chip anytime soon. JWT has only made chips up to the 95-96VQ. After that its either too hard to break the code or they're too lazy.

Intake, cat-back, cat, MAYBE a y pipe. Probably underdrive pulleys later. I think they can pull nearly 300hp NA. Is 45hp possible with bolt ons? maybe.
