AT Check light

Hello All;

03 maxima 120k miles auto trans. At startup every couple days I get the flashing AT Check light. Checked the fluid, its not burnt smelling or discolored. Trans shifts and functions normally. I am considering changing the fluid and filter. Looking for suggestions. I want to avoid the stealership as they want $25 just to replace a license plate light bulb.

Thanks

Did you make sure that the AT oil is full as well?

Maybe the # of times flashing equals a code?

FSM have anything to say about it?

What you see at startup is just a flashing light to get your attention

There is a self diagnostic that you can run and then the AT Check light flashes in a coded pattern. Drive the car to bring the engine and transmission up to operating temperature. Make sure that the transmission oil is full.

Then start the self diagnostics.

See page # 53 in this link for the directions.

I saw that diagnostic procedure. I will have to give that a try. Hopefully I'm coordinated enough to pull it off. Wet your left index finger and turn key on an off 7 times to the beat off we are the champions while standing on your left leg on a Thursday wearing a green shirt etc. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks
