You'll regret getting a 3.0 in this day and age

Explain yourself. 3.0 is smooth, reliable, doesn't burn a drop... They're both good.

It doesn't really matter what year motor or even type of used car you buy. If the previous owner(s) haven't taken care of it or they've beat it into the ground. Then no matter what the vehicle is you'll have problems. There's no right answer to the which one is better 3.0 vs. 3.5. It's all about finding the right one for you that has been treated right.

Well I been reading about the 3.5 even taken care of burn oil ... That's why I ask I do have a 4 gen 3.0 motor which is the best thing yet and do not burn oil at all that is why I'm asking.. I know to check the support under were the engine sits for rust .. Just wondering any type of problem with a 5 gen that's all

Dude, it's truly pick your pain. 5th gens had problems with the iac messing up the ecu and bad coils. 5.5 gens have issues with burning oil and the pre catalytic converters. Both are super reliable other than that! I've had both, and the ride of the 3.0 was more smooth, but the power of the 3.5 is very noticeable. There is no issues merging with traffic in a 3.5. I would ultimately go best available condition, but lean towards the 3.5. There is no substitute for horsepower! Also, if it's a 3.5, it's at least 1-3 years younger...

I tend too agree with this. The power all else being equal is the way to go. The oil burning issue is not really an issue if you check your oil more than once a year. Check it once a week when you get the car, find out how much it burns and keep an eye on it. If you think your precats are a big deal gut them, buy new ones, or get headers. These so called problems are not a big deal if keep an eye out for them. Good luck with which ever way you decide to go.
