AC Charge-2003 Max

I have one of those can charges with a gage and looks like the AC LP Nissan port shrader valve is recessed too deep for the charge port connector to make contact. Is something missing here or is there another adapter I need for Nissan cars?

Make sure you're looking at the right port, there are two. They are two different sizes so only one will fit.

Stay away from those DIY cans. The crappy ten cent gauges on those things are often inaccurate and can overcharge the system, ruining the compressor. Not-to-mention, the "ultra synthetic" refrigerants contain stop leak and other random additives that can damage the A/C system.

Never had a problem with the DIY cans. Just don't over do it and you won't have a problem.

On the 03, the port is on the front of the motor, being the passengers side since the motor is side ways. There is a pipe that goes along the engine cover and the cap sticks right off the top.

Thanks,
I can find the right LP port but something isn't right with this filler can. I didn't buy the filler can new but it was partially used on my Son's 06 Maxima and was okay with his application. I think something is missing here or is different. I haven't touch this AC system since I bought the car new and nobody else has. I just wanted to top it off. It cools fine but after 13 years it has to be down some.

If it's not giving you any reason to put a charge in it, then why are you charging it?? Better to just leave it be until there's a reason to charge it.
