Install Rear Brake Pads

THIS MY FIRST ATTEMPT TO INSTALL REAR BRAKE PADS ON MY 2000 MAXIMA.CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO GET THE CALIPER PISTON TO GO BACK INTO THE CALIPER? i KNOW THAT THE REAR PARKING BRAKE HAS SOME KIND OF AUTO SLACK ADJUSTER BUILT INTO IT, BUT I DONT KNOW THE CORRECT WAY TO GET THE CALIPER PISTON TO FULLY RETRACT BACK IN. ANY INFO YOU COULD WOULD BE APPRECIATED, AS THE CAR IS APART AS WE SPEAK.THANKS IN ADVANCE.

take needle nose pliers and use the thin end and start rotating in a clockwise direction, and it will compress.
This process will take patience, and you will probably bust you a knuckle or two trying.

Enjoy.

Re: Re: Install Rear Brake Pads

Needlenose pliers not strong enough, trust me I tried it only scored the face of the caliper. I finally succeded by using a pair of those big lock jaw pliers. i locked them around the outer edge of the caliper and turned it clockwise. BE CAREFUL not to grab the rubber boot. I know it is frustrating, but needlenose pliers or C-clamps do not work on the rear brake calipers
